Thanks to the reader who sent us more evidence of Missouri Southern’s commitment to mediocrity.
We lost to the University of Central Missouri in men’s and women’s basketball. (Address all inquiries about pre and post-game national rankings to LL Cool J-Red) We were not happy. Then someone told us they liked the Gandhi post and asked if we had seen this:
More than 400 people were in attendance at the annual MLK Freedom Scholarship Dinner Tuesday night in the Elliott Union.
The featured speaker for the night was Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas Gandhi and the founder of the M. K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, located at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.
Larry Seward, reporter for KSHB-TV Channel 41 NBC Action News, Kansas City, served as master of ceremonies for the evening.
The event began with welcome remarks via video from UCM President Charles Ambrose, who was not able to attend. The Rev. Joel Kurz of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Warrensburg then gave an invocation.
After the dinner, Seward introduced Arun Gandhi, who took the stage.
We had a nice breakfast with a local pastor. It was nice. Central Missouri had a scholarship dinner with Gandhi’s grandson.
Do we ever get tired of playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess?
